Fadwa AlQasem
is a Palestinian with a Canadian citizenship born in Libya; a refugee by heritage with a gypsy’s spirit; a lover of languages (I speak Arabic, English, French and Spanish) .. I believe that inspiration flows freely between all my creative outlets. She started writing at 14, and wrote only in English for a long time, until in 1999 inspiration came in Arabic; currently she writes in both English and Arabic, and translates her own work. Short stories published in
Akhbar Al Adab (Cairo),
Al Adab Magazine (Lebanon),
Al Bayan Literature (UAE), Kikah.com, and
Banipal (UK). Her first collection of short stories in Arabic
“The Scent of Cardamom,” was published in 2005 by Dar Sharqiyat, Cairo, Egypt.
